Subspecialty

Dr. Kirby treats a variety of nerve, muscle and bone disorders. As a member of the Spine Disorder Center team, he focuses primarily on problems of the neck and back. He specializes in non-operative spine care using a variety of treatment modalities, including medications, injections and physical therapy. Dr. Kirby also specializes in electromyography and nerve conduction studies. These tests are used in the diagnosis of neurologic and neuromuscular disorders, including carpal tunnel syndrome, radiculopathy (pinched nerves in the neck and back), and peripheral neuropathy (injury to nerves from diseases such as diabetes).  He currently sees patients at St. Francis Medical Center and our Shrader Road location.

Education

Warren B. Kirby, MD received his Bachelor of Science degree from The College of William and Mary and his medical degree from The University of Virginia.  He then completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at The University of Virginia, where he served as Chief Resident.

Career

Although he is one of the newer members of the Advanced Orthopaedics team, Dr. Kirby is already making a name for himself in the area of spine disorders. His knowledge of the industry is apparent in the many presentations he has made to peers. While at UVA Health System, Dr. Kirby played a major role in a number of committees as well, which helped shape and clarify the school’s curriculum and treatment procedures. He also regularly covers athletic events, including high school football and marathons.

Awards and Publication

Dr. Kirby has shared his knowledge of the industry with the academic world on many occasions, through presentations to the UVA Department of PM&R. He has also received several awards for achieving the highest scores on exams in several of his med school classes at UVA.
